Only 17% of the UN’s sustainable development targets are on track.

The world’s biggest challenges are deeply systemic, so no one can solve them alone. We bring government, business and civil society together for the long haul, and the Spiral Breakthrough shows them how.

Different places, the same failure

The knowledge exists. The money exists. The people who care exist. What is missing is a way to bring them together.

From the gang to a future

London. A sixteen-year-old is excluded from school. No plan, and no one responsible for what happens next. By that evening, a gang has noticed him.

We brought police, schools, the NHS, businesses and young people together to share responsibility for every young person’s future. Now a teenager like him finds a pathway, not a gang.

Schoolgirls in India smiling together

From married at fifteen to staying in school

Odisha, India. A fifteen-year-old girl is told she will be married next month. Her school, the police, the village council and the state all have a part to play in stopping it. None of them acts together, and she leaves school.

We brought police, government, schools and young changemakers together across Odisha, Telangana and Kerala. Now her village acts as one to stop child marriage, and she stays in school.

From arrival to a home

London, 2021. Families arrive from Kabul after the city falls. Housing, schools, work and health care sit with different departments and charities, and no one holds the whole picture.

We brought HM Treasury, the Home Office, the GLA, Tesco, the British Red Cross, Save the Children and community leaders together as one coalition. Families found homes.

Ministers, scientists and industry leaders in discussion at the Breakthrough Summit in Abu Dhabi

From separate rooms to one table

The UAE. Scientists, ministers and industry leaders confront the climate crisis in separate rooms. The science, the capital and the policy exist, but there is no shared process.

We brought them to one table at the Breakthrough Summit in Abu Dhabi in 2023, with a shared process and a shared goal: a roadmap for carbon removal in the UAE.

Ways to work with us

For philanthropists, foundations, companies and governments. Every way in starts with a conversation.

Back the work where it starts

Unrestricted support lets a new mission begin before it has a funder of its own. Those who back us become part of the work: close to the thinking, and invited into the conversation about what comes next.

For philanthropists and foundations. A circle of founding partners is forming, by invitation.

“The Bridge Institute’s Afghan Refugee Coalition was the best coalition of that kind I have seen productive. The approach should be recommendable for refugee needs response in the UK.”
